The relationship to painting is immediate, primal, a venture into the unknown, a dance between the objective and subjective. The art is generated by an intuitive flow that organizes a given painting in a subjective objectivity. My art is of the moment. An act of creative freedom.
The seeds of the artistic practice from a deep motivation to establish a foothold for a personal creative flow, a space where I can be myself in an otherwise hostile environment – akin to the graffiti artist on an urban street.
Themes that reoccur in the work reflect my anxiety about our relationship to our environment. The split between man and nature is a daunting problem which I feel acutely. My love of nature feels threatened by mankind’s gluttony and selfish disregard for the balance that we once had with nature.
Through claiming my subjectivity through ART, I hope to inspire others to retreat from the hustle of outward ambition, and redirect the inspirational current in the direction of inner ambition.
I tried to apply categories to organize my work on this web page. These categories certainly overlap each other and arbitrarily and conveniently organize the work. The work is organized in the following way:
Home – A slide show with a smattering of all categories
Geometric Abstraction – A collection of hard edge compositions.
Expressionism – allegorical figurative paintings
Works on Paper – painting and drawing
Digital and Photo – computer generated imagery
